We have helped many people get started finding a SUP Board that is right for them.  We like to start by putting boards into three different categories with a fourth coming soon.

Flatwater SUP Boards designed to take on water away from the surf zone.

Paddle Surf Boards or boards that are to designed to ride waves.

All-Around SUP Boards which do a little bit of everything and are great family boards.

  1. Whitewater SUP Boards which have in the past been either surf or all-around boards but we will see a new generation of dedicated Whitewater SUP coming in 2012.

Of course any board can be used anywhere.  Much like in golf you could use a putter off the tee or a driver to putt the ball in the hole.  But we explain the design features of the different types of boards so you can make an informed decision on which board is best for you.  and as always feel free to call us to ask any other questions you might have.

Flatwater SUP Boards include racing and touring boards.  The first generations of SUP boards came from the surf.  They were in essence big surfboards.  Today there are a number of boards that are designed for people who do no plan on riding waves.  These design features are dramatically different that those of Paddle Surfboards.  In fact they are in direct contrast.  Paddle Surfboards tend to be shorter and wider that their flatwater counterparts.  Flatewater SUP Boards are long and narrow.  The longer length or waterline makes these boards faster gliders and they don;t have to be as wide to compensate for the conditions you might find out in the surf.
