Leashes, Fins, Deck Pads, Board Bags, Board Locks to keep your Board ON your car, and more!
Your
SUP stand-up paddle surf quiver isn't a done deal until you've stocked up on the proper
accessories. If you're on lakes or in the ocean you'll need a surf leash. If
you SUP paddle in waterways with the occasional rock, you'll want a
special fin with a rubber edge. (Great for calm river trips.) And if
you're like Randall's wife, Cristina and you want to spend your energy
on the water rather than getting to it, you'll need a Big Board
Schlepper.
If you're stand up paddling in the surf, consider a surf helmet. Randall was a hardcore
Oregon Coast surfer in the 1960's and 70's when wetsuits were more wet
than warm. He thought a surf helmet was sort of a sissy thing -- until the
day his 12' SUP board launched straight up during a surfing wipe-out and came
straight down, nose first towards his head. The nose jammed into his shoulder, narrowly missing his brain. Now he wears a helmut in the surf.

We don't sell wetsuits, but we don't want to leave out this important category. We recommend you get a wetsuit from Josh Gistdovich, owner of CleanLineSurf.com an Oregon Coast surf store. During the 1970's Josh and Randall Barna, owner of StandUpPaddleFlatwater.com surfed together on the Oregon Coast. Randall's daughter, Isabella Acosta Barna got her first O'Neil wetsuit from Clean Line when she was two years old. Now a high school student (and a professional model with Sports Unlimited talent agency) Isabella is still wearing her favorite O'Neil wetsuits.
